FedEx Priority Overnight
Every shipment uses FedEx Priority Overnight — next business day delivery, no slower options.
Continental US
We ship throughout the lower 48. Hawaii and Alaska are unavailable, and Florida has species-specific limits — see restrictions.
Rates & Delivery Times
We ship exclusively via FedEx Priority Overnight. Rates are flat by destination — insulated packaging and live-arrival handling are included at no extra charge.
| Shipping Method | Delivery | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| FedEx Priority Overnight | Next business day by 10:30 AM* | $40 — Texas (in-state) |
| FedEx Priority Overnight | Next business day by 10:30 AM* | $50 — All other lower-48 states |
*Delivery commitment varies by address. FedEx Hold at Location is available — mention it in your order notes if you prefer pickup at a FedEx office.
Request FedEx Hold at Location in your order notes if you won't be home at delivery. Packages left on hot porches can stress your spider — a climate-controlled FedEx office is often the safest option.
How We Package Your Spider
Jumping spiders are delicate travelers. Every shipment is hand-packed by our team using materials designed to minimize stress, temperature swings, and physical jostling.
What's inside the box
- Ventilated deli cup — Your spider travels in a secure, breathable container with a soft pad at the bottom.
- Insulated shipper — A foam-lined box maintains stable internal temperatures.
- Padding — Cushioning material prevents movement during transit.
- Temperature gel packs — Added automatically when forecast highs exceed 85°F or lows drop below 40°F along the route.
- Perforated lid — Allows airflow without escape risk.
- Species care sheet — Printed guide tucked inside for immediate reference upon arrival.
What we never do
- Ship spiders in envelopes or non-rigid containers
- Combine multiple spiders in one cup without your explicit request
- Ship during severe weather advisories along the delivery route
Shipping Schedule
Orders are processed in the order received. Here's our typical timeline from checkout to doorstep:
Order Confirmation
You'll receive an email confirmation immediately after placing your order with your order number and estimated ship window.
Preparation (1–2 days)
We health-check your spider, prepare the travel cup, and confirm weather conditions along the shipping route.
FedEx Priority Overnight (Mon–Wed)
Packages ship Monday through Wednesday via FedEx Priority Overnight. Orders placed after Wednesday ship the following Monday.
Next-Day Delivery & Settling In
Your spider arrives the business day after it ships — not necessarily the day after you order. Shipments go out Monday through Wednesday in the order they were received, depending on how many orders go out each day. Open the package promptly in a calm spot and wait 24 hours before offering food. See our care guide for details.
Weather Holds & Seasonal Shipping
Animal welfare comes first. We monitor forecast temperatures at both our location in the Dallas area and your delivery destination before every FedEx Priority Overnight shipment.
When we may delay your order
- Forecast high above 98°F or low below 39°F at origin or destination
- Active severe weather alerts (heat waves, ice storms, hurricanes)
- FedEx service disruptions or holiday backlogs
If a weather hold applies, we'll email you with an updated ship date before your order goes out. You may request a refund or reschedule at any time during a hold.
Even with overnight FedEx, extreme heat at your doorstep matters. During peak summer (June–August), we strongly recommend FedEx Hold at Location — add a note in your order or use the weather checker below to plan ahead.
Check Weather at Your Address
Enter your delivery ZIP code to see the 7-day forecast. We use the same temperature thresholds when deciding whether to ship.
Tracking Your Package
A FedEx tracking number is emailed to you the moment your package leaves our facility. Follow your shipment at fedex.com or in the FedEx app.
- Tracking emails come from dallasjumpersonline@gmail.com
- Allow up to 12 hours for tracking to activate after the ship notification
- Delivery signature is not required, but we recommend being available or using FedEx Hold at Location
Live Arrival Guarantee
We guarantee your jumping spider will arrive alive and in good health. If something goes wrong in transit, we'll work with you to resolve it quickly.
To file a claim
- Contact us within 24 hours of the marked delivery time
- Include your order number and clear photos of the spider and packaging
- Do not discard the shipping materials until your claim is resolved
What's covered
- Spider deceased on arrival
- Spider clearly injured or in severe distress due to transit
- Wrong species shipped (rare — we'll send the correct spider or refund)
What's not covered
- Claims filed after the 24-hour window
- Spiders left in outdoor mailboxes for extended periods in extreme heat or cold
- Incorrect shipping address provided by the customer
- Natural molting or behavior changes during the first 48 hours (see our care guide)
Dead on arrival (DOA) replacements
If your claim is approved for a spider that arrived dead on arrival:
- We send a replacement of the same species and sex at no charge for the spider
- You pay shipping on the replacement ($40 in Texas, $50 elsewhere) — we do not cover reship costs
- Or you may choose a refund of the spider price only (original shipping is non-refundable)
This is standard among spider sellers. Shops such as Tiny Webbers also send a free replacement while the buyer pays reship shipping. We keep it simple: free replacement spider, you pay replacement shipping.
Shipping Restrictions
Due to state agricultural regulations and carrier limitations, we cannot ship to every location.
| Region | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Continental US (lower 48) | FedEx Priority Overnight — $40 TX / $50 other states. See Florida limits below. | |
| Florida | Only FDACS-permitted jumping spider species. Interstate shipments into FL require state arthropod permits. | |
| Alaska & Hawaii | Agricultural import restrictions | |
| International | Contact us for select countries | |
| PO Boxes | Climate risk — FedEx Hold at Location recommended |
Florida jumping spider rules
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) only allows jumping spider species that are native or already established in Florida. Species not documented in the state are prohibited because they could establish wild populations and harm native pollinators.
Captive-bred spiders shipped into Florida from another state require the appropriate FDACS arthropod permit. Wild-collected Florida spiders and their direct offspring do not need a permit to be sold inside the state, but that does not apply to out-of-state breeders shipping in.
What we can ship to Florida: Phidippus regius (regal), Phidippus apacheanus (Apache), and Phidippus mystaceus (high eyelashed jumping spider) — these appear on Florida's permitted jumping spider list.
Cannot ship to Florida: Phidippus arizonensis, Phidippus carolinensis, and Paraphidippus fartilis — they are not on the permitted list.
Florida customers: contact us before ordering so we can confirm species eligibility and permitting. See also FDACS permitted jumping spiders (PDF).
Delivery Issues & Returns
Because we ship live animals, we do not accept returns of healthy spiders. However, we're committed to making every adoption a positive experience.
Lost or delayed packages
If tracking shows no movement for 3+ business days, contact us immediately. We'll open a carrier inquiry and keep you updated. If a package is confirmed lost, we'll ship a replacement at no cost.
Damaged packaging
If the outer box arrives crushed or soaked, photograph everything before opening. Email us within 24 hours — even if the spider appears fine, we want to document carrier handling issues.
Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled for a full refund before the spider is packed for shipment (typically within 24 hours of ordering). Once packed, cancellations are subject to a $10 restocking fee to cover preparation costs.
